Contemplating future regrets

on the wrong side
of tomorrow, looking back…
wondering how
I arrived
so soon

Regretting having fallen asleep before my husband, last night, without one more kiss and hug. The now is to be cherished eminently, and those in it. I have awakened, and it’s hours before he will again be awake.

I suppose it would be bad form, waking him to secure the good-night parting that I earlier missed.

For a different take on the poem, see Mara Eastern’s photograph here, which fits much better than the original inspiration.
